Every 15th of the month: new deadlines, new contests, and new opportunities for your voice to find the world. The next six weeks include: the Frontier Industry Prize, the BLP open reading period, the Winter Tangerine Prize, Rhino Poetry and more.

FEATURED: 2019 Frontier Industry Prize: One Poem//$3000

Judged by industry greats Jeff Shotts, Kwame Dawes, & Sarah Gambito. Open to emerging poets with no more than two full-length collections. Only ONE poem per submission. No line-limit. 2nd and 3rd place poems will receive $200/$100 respectively & publication with Frontier.

Omnidawn Poetry Chapbook Contest

The contest has been extended, but time is running out! Send them 20-40 pages of poetry. Winner receives $1,000, publication & 100 copies. This year’s judge is Tongo Eisen-Martin.

Get those manuscripts ready! BLP has an open reading period 6/1 – 6/30 for chapbooks (16 – 36 pages) and full-length books (45 – 120 pages).

The Raw Art Review’s William Wantling Prize for Poetry

Judged by John D. Robinson. The winning poem will receive $200 with five additional poems receiving $25 honorable mention awards. 3 poems per entry. Previously published poems OK.

2019 Los Angeles Review Poetry Award

Judged by Matty Layne Glasgow. Submit up to 3 poems, no more than 50 lines each. Winner will receive $1,000 and publication both in LAR Online and in the best-of annual print edition.

2019 Winter Tangerine Poetry Award

For all you new & emerging poets (i.e. those who have never published a full-length book). Tiana Clark will judge. Submit up to 4 poems totaling no more than 8 pages. There is a $250 prize for the winner and $50 for finalists who will all be published in WT Issue #6 in early 2020.

2019 Charlotte Mew Chapbook Contest

Headmistress Press, a lesbian-identified publisher of books by LBT poets, announces their 5th annual chapbook contest judged by Robin Becker. 1st prize winner will receive $300 plus 20 copies of the winning book. All entries considered for publication. No more than 35 pages.

Reading Fee: $10 – $20 Sliding Scale, with fee waived upon request.

$10,000 Rattle Poetry Prize

The annual Rattle Poetry Prize offers $10,000 (!) for a single poem to be published in the winter issue of the magazine. Ten finalists will also receive $200 each, along with publication and eligibility for the $2,000 Readers’ Choice Award. Submit up to 4 poems. No line- limit.

The Comstock Review 2019 Muriel Craft Bailey Poetry Contest

First prize: $1,000, Second prize: $250, Third prize: $100. Honorable Mentions receive a one-year subscription. This year’s contest is judged by David Kirby. Submit up to 5 unpublished poems. Each poem must be a maximum of 40 lines. NO SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS.

Rhino Poetry (General Submissions)

RHINO seeks previously unpublished poems, translations, and flash-fiction. Send them 3-5 poems (no more than 5 total pages). All poems automatically considered for their Editor’s Prize.

Fairy Tale Review

FTR seeks poems for their print issue, the Coral Issue, to be published in March 2020. Submit up to 5 poems (no more than 10 pages). They are especially interested in environmental poetry.
