Deadlines: October & November
Every middle of the month: new deadlines, new contests, and new opportunities for your voice to find the world. The next few weeks include: Palette’s Love & Eros Prize, Frontier’s Industry Prize, other great contests, and submission opportunities.
DEADLINE: 10/18
Just three days remain to submit to our inaugural love-themed contest. All iterations of love are welcome—send us your bitter and your sweet, your queer, platonic, reverent, and devotional. The winning poet will be awarded $3000 and publication on Palette Poetry. Second and third place will win $300 & $200 respectively, as well as publication. The top ten finalists will also be recognized. The guest judge this year is Kaveh Akbar.

Frontier Poetry Industry Prize
Submissions are open to new and emerging writers (poets with no more than one full-length published work forthcoming at the time of submission). This prize will award one winning poem $3000. Winner be selected by a panel of judges representing two stellar independent presses: Michael Wiegers of Copper Canyon Press and Jenny Molberg of Pleiades Press. The two judges will collaborate to select a single winning poem from a group of finalists for the $3000 prize and publication on Frontier Poetry. The Frontier team will select the ten finalists, and award 2nd and 3rd place poems $200 and $100 respectively. The winner and finalists will be announced Spring of 2022.

Sycamore Review Wabash Prizes
These prizes are in both fiction and poetry, and are judged by Joy Priest (poetry) and Julian K Jarboe (fiction). Winner in each category will receive $1000 and publication. This year, submission fees are sliding scale! A reading fee of your choice (submitted online) must accompany each submission. With a $16 submission fee, you’ll receive a free back issue. With a $20 submission fee, you’ll receive a copy of the prize issue. If you are a Black, Indigenous, and/or Trans writer, please email khan302@purdue.edu to request a fee waiver. Multiple submissions are allowed, and all contest submissions will be considered for regular inclusion in Sycamore Review.

Quarterly West Poetry & Prose Contest
The winners will each receive $500 and publication in a forthcoming issue of Quarterly West. Runners-up in poetry and prose will each receive $200 and all entries will be considered for publication. To enter, please submit up to three poems or a prose piece (i.e., fiction, non-fiction, or any hybridization therein) through our Submittable. There is no fee to submit to the contests, and please submit no more than one entry per genre. Additional entries will go unread. This year, the poetry judge is Douglas Kearney and the prose judge is Cristina Rivera Garza.

Black Lawrence Press Open Reading Period
Submissions will open 11/01! Black Lawrence Press accepts submissions exclusively through Submittable. We are not able to accept submissions via email or postal mail. Please see the individual contest and open reading period pages for specific guidelines and information. All manuscripts should include a title page, table of contents, and when appropriate, an acknowledgments page. Manuscripts should be paginated and formatted in an easy-to-read font such as Garamond or Times New Roman. Take note of the length guidelines specified on Submittable for each category.

Please submit up to five poems at a time. All submissions are considered for our print magazine and/or online feature. If you would not like to be considered for online publication, please state this in your cover letter. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as long as CCR is notified at the time of submission. Please withdraw your submission through Submittable if your work is accepted by another publication.
