Deadlines for June: Fellowships and Retreats
We’ve got to be thankful to live in a world which offers regular and standardized solace to working writers. Here are seven retreats and fellowships to submit yourself to this month.

National Park Artist in Residence: Dry Torgua
Got a best friend or spouse that you’ve always dreamed of escaping to a deserted island with? From September 1-29th, 2019, the National Parks Arts Foundation is offering the Dry Tortuga island in the Florida Keys and a $2000 stipend to two artists, friends or couples. Only joint applications are being accepted, “due to the intense, isolated nature of this residency.”

2018 Downtown Brooklyn Arts Management Fellowship
This fellowship is paid and full-time! In an effort to diversify the staff in cultural organizations, the DBAMF offers a 6 month work experience at an affiliated artistic organization. You’ll learn the ins and outs of these programs, developing a wide range of necessary skills for a career in the arts. Eligible applicants must have had their college graduation between spring ’16 and spring ’18, or relevant 3-4 years work experience as a substitute for college.

2018 W@W Generative Conference
This year’s Writers @ Work conference is all about creating new work. Join other writers from all genres at the beautiful Alta Lodge in Utah to sharpen iron with iron, rub idea against idea, and come out with a thicker manuscript and a new sense of community.

Cambridge Writers Workshop 2018 Retreat: Granada
Few retreats are going to be as high quality as the Cambridge Writers’ Workshop Summer in Granada. Poets Rita Banerjee and Diana Norma Szokolyai are amongst the faculty. Tuition includes a flamenco show and tapas tour for good measure. Scholarships are available as well.

Sally Buckner Emerging Writer Fellowship
To honor the late poet Sally Buckner, the North Carolina Writers’ Network offers a grant of $500 to an emerging writer—and this year, they plan on supporting a poet. The grant will go toward the costs of writing: submission fees, travel, conference, pens, therapy, etc. Applicants must have legal residence in NC, or plan to during the fellowship.

AAWP / /Ubud Writers and Readers Festival Emerging Writers Prize 2018
In the last week of October, over 150 writers and artists will gather for the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in central Bali. You can watch a recap of the 2017 festival here. Included are literary lunches, live performances, lectures and workshops. The theme this year is Jagadhita: “the individual pursuit of universal harmony and prosperity as one of life’s primary goals.” This prize will award a ticket the festival, accommodations, money toward airfare and more.

The Watering Hole’s Winter Retreat Fellowship
The Watering Hole’s winter retreat will be in McCormick, South Carolina, from December 26-30. This traditional retreat has all the good stuff: daily workshops, craft talks, readings, & more. So far they’ve announced that poets Phillip B. Williams and Chen Chen will be facilitating so far! They’re looking for writers of color who care deeply about growing in their craft.
