“4:45 am, one more prayer before going back to sleep, thirty-three / amber tasbih beads warm between my fingers”
Zia Wang is Indian American and part of the third generation of her family from East Africa. She is an alum of VONA and Bread Loaf workshops and is a 2024 Roots. Wounds. Words. Fellow. Her poetry has been published or is forthcoming in the New Orleans Review, Honey Literary, The American Journal of Poetry, Drunken Boat, SWWIM, Meridian, Allium, West Trade Review and elsewhere. Her poetry was nominated for Best New Poets 2024 and for a 2024 Pushcart Prize. She currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two daughters and an orange cat.
